About The DJ

My name is Dakota, I am the owner of Mountain Sound DJ and who will be helping you throughout the entire process.

Music has been a passion of mine since I was little. Growing up I loved listening to all different genres of music and being able to share this with my friends. Growing older I picked up DJ’ing where I was able to share my love for music at parties and events. Eventually, I got introduced into the club scene of DJ’ing where I was able to dive deeper into the craft and gain a lot of experience and knowledge and really fine tune my skill set. Now, I have worked my way into the wedding and private event scene. Here I am able to combine my love for a wide spectrum of music, and my experience DJ’ing in order to blend, transition, and remix all different genres creating a diverse and fun night for the guests.

I am a very flexible DJ that loves to blend all different genres of music. When I am mixing for myself or at open format events I tend to lean towards dance/edm and hip hop. I do understand, however, that weddings have wide range of ages as well as styles of music that are enjoyed. I work directly with my clients on curating a set list from the music that they enjoy. I am not a wedding DJ that is going to sit there shuffling through the classics. I am happy to mix in some classics, lets be honest, some of them are guaranteed to fill the dance floor! However, I will be remixing it in or transitioning through the songs. The clients I work with provide me with a “Do Not Play” and a “Must Play” list so I can insure I am doing my part on mixing through what they want to hear. I am not one to mix country. I am happy to throw a few songs in throughout the night but am not a good fit for country focused events.
